"Delivering the Promise" CHIRLA Gala 2010

Thanks to the support of our generous Sponsors and Donors, CHIRLA’s Spring 2010 Gala was a big success! Over 400 community leaders, politicians, advocates, organizations and individuals joined us at the historic Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles to celebrate the immigrant communities of LA and their allies, and the event was featured on Telemundo. This year’s Gala theme, Delivering the Promise: Making Reform a Reality in 2010, was truly embodied by the evening’s Honorees: NASA Astronaut José Hernández; The California Community Foundation; Reverend Eric Lee, President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference; and the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC). Our Honorees received their awards from Guest Presenters including: California State Senator Gilbert Cedillo; Arturo Rodriguez, President of the United Farm Workers; and Laphonza Butler, President of SEIU ULTCW.  We were especially grateful for the support of Major Sponsors: American Apparel, California Community Foundation, Equality California Institute, Kaiser Permanente Foundation, Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, SEIU United Health Care Workers West, SEIU United Long Term Care Workers Union, Southern California Edison, Union Bank, and Western Union whose generous donations made the evening possible. With your help, we raised close to $100,000 for CHIRLA's programs, vital support to continue our work serving and empowering low-income immigrant workers and youth throughout California.  Thank you!
