Internships and volunteer opportunities

Internships

CHIRLA accepts applications for internships year round. It is up to the internship applicant to coordinate academic credits. Normally, internships at CHIRLA do not provide a stipend. 

If you are interested in an internship or volunteer opportunity with CHIRLA, please send the following items to Whelma Cabanawan, Volunteer Coordinator: 

1) Updated Résumé

2) Cover letter detailing the following in no more than 1.5 pages:

  a) Career interests
  b) How you heard about CHIRLA
  c) What part of CHIRLA's work most interests you (see  
      program descriptions on website if necessary)
  d) How long you anticipate working with CHIRLA
  e) Your availability
  f) If you are looking for an internship as part of a class or
     program, please explain any requirements, necessary
     paperwork, etc. 
  g) Any other relevant skills or talents you could bring to
     CHIRLA (languages, experiences, etc.)

We will process your information and get back to you within two weeks.

Current Openings

We are actively recruiting for the internships listed below.  If you would like to apply for an internship in another department or program, there may be an opening, so please contact the Volunteer Coordinator and tell her which program interests you.  Candidates with interest in the following areas are encouraged to apply: Media and Communications, Accounting, Administration, Graphic Design, Policy, Community Education,  and Community Organizing.
