Thank you to everyone who supported CHIRLA’s Women Leading Change Reception and Holiday Marketplace on Saturday!

Despite the cold and rainy weather, over 100 people came out to Homegirl Café to enjoy great food, community, and holiday shopping with CHIRLA. With your help, we raised over $15,000 for our worker education programming for women and celebrated the accomplishments of our inspiring honorees.

We are grateful to Sister Virginia Maria Joseph, Cynthia Anderson-Barker, and Esther Partida Vasquez for allowing us to honor them, and also thank our presenters Los Angeles City Councilmember Jan Perry; Lizette Escobedo, NALEO Educational Fund; CHIRLA Members Sonia Murietta and Virginia Francisco; and Vannia de la Cuba, City of Pasadena District 5 Field Representative.

Sister Virginia Joseph of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary whose 30-years commitment to citizenship for immigrants has changed thousands of lives.

Attorney and Activist, Cynthia Anderson Barker, who has dedicated herself to protecting the civil rights of immigrant women and workers.

Esther Partida, a Community Leader and Advocate with a long history of fighting for immigrants.
