Action: Civil Disobedience and Rally Held in Costa Mesa to Call for Immigration Reform

A couple of hundred demonstrators gathered on Monday to protest Costa Mesa's tough stance on immigrants and to call for immigration reform to help stave off anti-immigrant, divisive laws such as Arizona's SB1070.  Eleven individuals participated in a civil disobedience act, chaining themselves to a table, chairs and each other.  Costa Mesa and Santa Ana Police ordered the crowd to disperse and proceeded to arrest the eleven advocates.  A couple hours later, all detainees were released and given a court date.

Below, some of the pictures of Monday's action.

The action in the "Rule of Law City" of Costa Mesa was peaceful with only a couple of disagreeable incidents.

Congressman Rohrabacher, Republican running for reelection, is depicted here by the dancing devil.  Costa Mesa City Mayor Mansoor is depicted here by a power-hungry, discriminating character.  Both were quite pleased with themselves for causing havoc in an otherwise very nice city.

The group prayed, chanted, sang, and talked with press as they awaited the police's decision.
