CHIRLA "Educating, Organizing, Advocating"

Watch a slide presentation of CHIRLA's Household Workers Project press conference held Sunday, March 29, 2009, in time to celebrate International Household Worker Day (which is held March 30 in more than 14 countries).

A brief press conference included a blessing by Father Eliseo, comments by Angelica Salas and Altagracia Garcia of CHIRLA, and testimonies from members of the Household Workers group. A short "street" theatre skit followed with a request for community members to be aware that household workers have no rights under current laws and yet they are an intricate and intimate part of the American family. A mass followed with household workers receiving blessings from the officiating pastor and the community.
