An immigrant from Ethiopia, Zerihoun Yilma joined the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) in 2001 as an Accountant, working to build CHIRLA's financial strength and improve its capacity. In 2003, he became the Director of Finance and Administration, and carried on the demanding and diverse responsibilities’ required for financial, office, and human resource management. In 2007, Zerihoun transitioned into the Associate Director position and has been successful in securing financial stability for CHIRLA, and developing strong internal systems. Before coming to CHIRLA, Zerihoun traveled widely for professional and academic projects to countries including India, Botswana, Namibia, and Ethiopia, and has a MBA from Poona University in Maharashtra, India. His previous experience as a Corporate Manager overseeing the marketing, finance, and accounting for several for-profit companies has shaped his expertise in the non-profit sector. |
