Illustration Internship – Editorial Project (NEW)

Internship Details: Intern should be available for a minimum of 15 hours a week from for 10-12 weeks. Days and times are flexible but must fall between business hours of 9am -5pm.

Requirements: The intern will work collaboratively on concept and production of background and original illustrations for the California Dream Network Yearbook project which seeks to document the youth immigrant movement from 1990-Current Date. Under the Art Direction of the Development Coordinator she/he will produce original artwork for this editorial project which will draw inspiration from essays, poems and personal accounts submitted. In addition to assisting with the design and production the intern will also be responsible for collecting research materials for the project, helping to organize and archive files and photography, and creating and mocking up comps when needed.

Must have experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, & Photoshop) and have a fundamental understanding of typography, sequential design and layout for print is strongly recommended. Candidates should possess excellent time-management and organizational skills.

Note: This position is unpaid, but will include a Letter of Recommendation and portfolio pieces. A small stipend to cover transportation costs may be available.
