CHIRLA Membership 2013

CHIRLA’s Annual Fall Membership Drive will run from October 7 – November 1, 2013. This year, your commitment has resulted in some incredible wins! After many years of fighting we are celebrating Governor Brown’s signing of multiple pro-immigrant bills. With your help, CHIRLA has been a leader in these efforts and is proud to announce the signing of the California Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, the Safe and Responsible Drivers Act, and the Trust Act.  As a founder and member of the California Domestic Workers Coalition, CHIRLA’s Household Worker Committee has fought for this bill since 2006. Since 1994, when the licenses of undocumented immigrants were taken away, CHIRLA has worked with partners and allies to restore this right. This year, we have been heavily involved with the bill’s author and our allies to win passage of the Safe and Responsible Driver Act and CHIRLA worked hard to win the Trust Act.  But it is only the activism of immigrant communities that truly makes these wins possible and only our vigilance will help implement and protect them.

For the first time since 1986, a comprehensive immigration reform bill passed the US Senate. Now the house MUST act to take up the Senate bill or to introduce its own bipartisan bill.  We are closer to winning reform than we have ever been and YOU are making it happen. Become a CHIRLA Member today to make immigration reform a reality!

If you joined during our annual drive last fall, it’s time to renew your membership. CHIRLA members are active in over 100 activities each year and members receive benefits including discounts and legal services. Click here to see our members in action.

WE MUST CONTINUE TO SHOW OUR STRENGTH:

Become a CHIRLA Member today and receive information about the issues you care about and ways to participate in events where immigrants show their strength, such as Get Out the Vote, May 1st March, and Immigrant Day in Sacramento. In order to fight for immigration reform and to combat anti-immigrant sentiment, we need to show our political leadership that we are a mobilized, informed constituency that will hold them accountable. By joining CHIRLA, you will be an important part of our advocacy efforts.
