Press Statement: Utah List is Only Symptom of Much More Serious Illness.

On Friday it was learned that two state workers had been identified as the original senders of the list containing 1,300 names and personal information of Utah residents.  CHIRLA's statement below:

"CHIRLA applauds Utah's authorities for promptly launching an investigation that lead to today's finding.   The actions of a few misguided individuals has already had serious repercussions throughout the nation, especially when we are seeing discrimination, desdain, and violence committed against immigrants.   The recklessness and Gestapo-like vigilantism of these two individuals should not be tolerated no matter what motivated them to such behavior.  We believe others may be behind the distribution of these lists and we call on the Department of Justice Division of Civil Rights to launch an investigation until all facts about this case are known."
