Antonio came to CHIRA in 1997 as part of City of Los Angeles Day Labor Program. At CHIRLA Antonio participated in the creation of a Day Laborer Center. Tony was instrumental in capturing the Day Labor history and struggle. He was responsible for initiating and moving forward the first Day Laborer Union. His Organizing style is based in a Popular Education Model. Alongside the day laborers of North Hollywood Antonio created the national model for a Day Labor Center, and now after 18 years working at CHIRLA; Antonio is still working to empower, immigrant workers and their families to fight for their rights. Antonio mobilizes low-income Immigrant workers and empowers them to exercise their rights; he promotes education and encourages everyone to share their struggles and working experiences to benefit others.
