Diana Escamilla was born in Irapuato Guanajuato, Mexico. She loves giving back to her community and for many years volunteered at her local high school district helping undocumented students apply for financial aid. During her last years in college, she was employed as the El Monte Union High School District's undocumented student specialist through Cal Soap. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Cal Poly Pomona where she was heavily involved in the opening of an undocumented student resource center on campus. Prior to transferring, she attended Rio Hondo Community College, she received special honors at her graduation for her social justice work. Throughout her college career, she took on leadership roles in many immigrant justice groups including the California Dream Network (CDN), Undocumented Student Support & Advocacy Committee (USSAC), ASI Lobby Corps, and Student Demand for Equality in Education (DEPIE). Diana has participated in civil disobedience and got arrested in Washington DC. She is also the co-host of CHIRLA's very own television series, CHIRLA TV: The Immigrant Voice. On her free time, Diana enjoys dancing and spending time with her fur babies.
