I began getting politically engaged with the California State University, Stanislaus MEChA chapter back in 2017. We conducted a three-day march from Merced, Ca to Modesto, CA to encourage congress to pass the clean Dream Act. Later that year, I attended the California Dream Network retreat in Sacramento, Ca and I’ve been involved with the California Dream Network since then. The CDN allowed me to advocate on behalf of my family and friends twice in Washington DC for the clean Dream Act, I’ve lobbied for state legislations on behalf of CHIRLA at the California State Capitol in Sacramento, established office hours within the Diversity Center at the California State University, Stanislaus offering resources to undocumented and AB 540 students on campus, and co-organized a statewide migrant exodus donation drive with CHIRLA, CDN, WISE-UP, community leaders, various clubs, and students. My goal is to share my experiences and encourage youth to raise awareness on all issues affecting their communities, to make a difference and create positive opportunities for themselves, their communities, and their families.
