Statewide Organizer (CDN)
Melody was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and grew up on the frontier with El Salvador in the small town of San Cristobal. After growing up without parents, she was reunited with her mother in the heart of Los Angeles when she was 9-years-old. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications and Political Science at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) in 2015. After, she graduated with a Master of Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2017. The research thesis she conducted along with receiving DACA in 2015 led her to discover CHIRLA's California Dream Network (CDN) where she fell in love with the immigrant rights movement and decided to give the rest of her life to fight for those who do not have a voice. Melody is now the CDN's Statewide Youth Organizer where she is dedicated to being the person she needed when she was younger for others. In her spare time, she loves to go to church, hike, and attend concerts. Her life goal is to continue bending the arc of the moral universe towards justice.
