Shannon is a Campaign Coordinator at CHIRLA. She works on campaigns such as the Los Angeles Rapid Raids Response Network. Shannon grew up in the San Fernando Valley, and is the proud daughter of a Bolivian immigrant mother, who is the inspiration behind all of her advocacy and organizing.
Shannon graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with majors in Political Science and Political Economy. Shannon is deeply passionate about abolishing any and all forms of oppression, alongside communities of color- especially low-income undocumented immigrants. Prior to CHIRLA, Shannon has done both volunteer and professional work with various social justice organizations in Los Angeles (the best city in the world). She’s worked with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and the Housing Rights Center. Shannon enjoys doing both strategic research, and face-to-face organizing. She continues to learn from, grow, and fight with her community. And she is thrilled to work alongside the dedicated folks at CHIRLA.
