Soila Rodriguez is an immigrant from Puebla, Mexico, she came to the US at the age of 7 years old. Soila became involved with DEPIE in 2015, the undocumented students club, at Cal Poly Pomona University because she wanted to provide more resources and opportunities for undocumented and low income students. She served as the external affairs representative for DEPIE; and through this role she got involved with the California Dream Network (CDN) at CHIRLA. Through CDN she found the resources she needed to help open the first Dream Resource Center at Cal Poly Pomona. On June of 2017 she graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor’s of Science in Anthropology.
After graduating Soila took part in the 2018 Primaries as part of the civic engagement team at CHIRLA. She canvassed and called voters to inform them about the importance of their vote. Now she is the Call Center and Data Manager at CHIRLA, helping lead 32 plus phone operators that call voters on a daily basis to inform them about issues that are affecting our community.
