Areli Hernandez was born in Mexico and came to the U.S. as child. She currently serves the community as Executive Assistant to CHIRLA Executive Director Angelica Salas. In her role Areli coordinates CHIRLA’s Executive Office, is liaison to the Board of Directors and a member of CHIRLA’s Administration Team. Areli became active in immigrant rights in 2006 as a result of the massive protests that Los Angeles was witnessing. In 2010 Areli joined CHIRLA as a volunteer phone operator in CHIRLA’s Call Center. Since then Areli has seen firsthand the expansion of CHIRLA. Areli is a graduate of California State University Northridge and is also an active member of her faith community in the San Fernando Valley.
