The digital divide in the Pico Union area of Los Angeles is stark. Just across the 5 freeway, wealthy neighborhoods and corporate hubs enjoy some of the fastest internet connections in the region, while Black and Brown communities on the other side face some of the slowest speeds—or no reliable access at all. This inequality deepens educational gaps, limits job opportunities, and isolates families from critical information.
CHIRLA is committed to changing this reality. As a community-based Internet Service Provider, CHIRLA will offer low-cost, reliable internet to the neighborhoods that have been overlooked for too long. Our new building will serve as a powerful network beacon, bringing connection, opportunity, and digital equity to the communities that need it most.

Al otro lado de la autopista 5, los vecindarios de mayores ingresos y los centros corporativos disfrutan de algunas de las conexiones de internet más rápidas de la región, mientras que las comunidades negras y latinas enfrentan algunas de las velocidades más bajas —o ningún acceso confiable—.
