Jerry Martínez Guardado was born in Los Angeles, CA, but his parents took him to El Salvador when he was an infant. He finished high school and earned a Law Degree in El Salvador. He also passed the bar exam in that country. He moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2009 to continue his legal education. He completed Leadership Studies in Europe, and holds a Master of Public Administration in California Baptist University in Riverside, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at University of Southern California (USC). He learned that the immigrants in his new city were facing discrimination, and labor violations. Their lives conditions were not like the Hollywood movies. Therefore, he got involved with local non-profit organizations. In 2013, he was hired by CHIRLA to coordinate LA County efforts on the Affordable Care Act (ACA). He currently coordinates CHIRLA’s new regional office in South LA.
