Jorge-Mario Cabrera has been CHIRLA’s Director of Communications since 2008. Before that, he served as Director of Communications for the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities (NALACC), Development Associate for CARECEN-Los Angeles, Development Director for LLEGO in Washington, DC, and Director of Development and Director of Programs for BIENESTAR. He studied Community Studies at UC Santa Cruz and Public Health at the UCLA School of Public Health. He is originally from El Salvador and became a US citizen in 2008 when he voted for the first time. Jorge-Mario is an active fiction and poetry reader, loves cats, and enjoys world music.
