Pamela is a first-generation immigrant from Guadalajara, Jalisco. She grew up in the South Bay communities of Inglewood and Lawndale. Pamela graduated from Pomona College in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. As an undocumented student, Pamela recognized the pressing needs of undocumented students and set out to engage in action research projects to advocate for immigrant students’ needs within the institution.
Since graduating from Pomona College, Pamela has remained committed to advocating for immigrants’ rights and empowering immigrant communities to advocate for themselves. She has provided hundreds of Know-Your-Rights workshops and has assisted many immigrants in applying for immigration relief. Pamela joined the CHIRLA team in April 2018 to continue in the struggle for immigrant rights. She is currently assisting with DACA renewal and Citizenship applications.
